 UNITED METHODIST WOMEN

FAITH UNITED METHODIST WOMEN Update

The Faith UMW Executive Board has been discussing for several months what we can do to bring about more interest in this group.  We have talked about programming interests, joining with other local units in a cluster type set up, or just disbanding this unit.  The decision is not an easy one.  We are praying for God to lead us in the direction He wants for us.

These are the changes we have decided to implement in 2012.  We will have three meetings during the year, plus the Mother-Daughter Banquet in May, and the bazaar in December.  The three meetings will be in March, September, and November.  We are still working to abide by the PURPOSE of UMW.  The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose PURPOSE is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.”  In other words, to do God’s work in the world, to be the hands and feet of Jesus for mission, and to support each other and the church as we work together for women, children, and youth in our world.

Our UMW unit from Faith UMC has a long heritage of reaching out to help others.  In order for this local unit of UMW to continue into 2013, we are hoping to have enough growth in 2012 to make it feasible.  We are praying that all of you will prayerfully consider how you can join us as we reach out in mission.  If not, then the decision will almost certainly be made with a heavy heart to disband at the end of 2012.
